WIAME AZZOUZI
Wiame Azzouzi (Casablanca, 1997)
Born in Casablanca in 1997, Wiame Azzouzi grew up in an environment where art was both quietly present and personally discovered. Now based in London, where she also works as an architect, Azzouzi’s artistic practice emerged intuitively—as a form of introspection and therapy—before evolving into a distinct visual language shaped by memory, intimacy, and cultural heritage.
Her drawings and paintings, executed primarily in oil, acrylic, pencil, and black chalk on paper, oscillate between figuration and symbol. They often evoke fragmented memories—moments of tenderness or solitude translated into tactile gestures and layered surfaces. The architectural precision of her training seeps subtly into her compositions: measured lines balance emotional intensity, and emptiness becomes as expressive as form.
Azzouzi’s work resists exoticism, choosing instead to distill the essence of Moroccan identity through muted tones, delicate contrasts, and an atmosphere of silence. Each piece becomes an intimate reconstruction of belonging—where personal memory meets collective narrative. Continually shifting between disciplines and geographies, Azzouzi’s practice traces a dialogue between architecture and emotion, structure and vulnerability, place and self.
